Terms & Conditions

These terms form part of the counselling contract and are provided to ensure clarity and mutual understanding.

1. Confidentiality

  • Sessions are confidential. Information will not be shared without your consent, except where required by law (for example, if there is risk of harm to yourself or others, or safeguarding concerns).

  • Counsellors may discuss aspects of their work in professional supervision to ensure safe and effective practice. Any material shared is anonymised.

2. Session Arrangements

  • Sessions last [50 minutes] unless otherwise agreed.

  • Counselling can be offered in person or online.

  • Please arrive on time. If you are late, the session will still end at the scheduled time.

3. Fees and Payment

  • Fees are agreed in advance and payable [at the time of booking].

  • Payment methods will be confirmed individually.

  • Missed sessions without notice may still be charged.

4. Cancellations

  • At least [24 hours] notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.

  • Sessions cancelled with less than [24 hours] notice may be charged in full.

5. Professional Boundaries

  • Counselling is a professional relationship. Contact outside sessions is limited to practical arrangements.

  • Counsellors do not provide emergency or crisis services. If you are in immediate danger, please contact emergency services.

6. Record Keeping and Data Protection

  • Brief notes may be kept to support your counselling process.

  • Records are stored securely and handled in line with UK GDPR.

  • You have the right to access, correct or request deletion of your information.

7. Ending Counselling

  • You may end counselling at any time.

  • It is helpful to discuss this decision in session to allow for a planned ending.

  • The counsellor may also suggest ending or referring you if counselling is no longer appropriate.

8. Complaints

  • If you have concerns, please raise them with your counsellor directly.

  • If unresolved, you may contact the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
